Parelli Star Rating

Pat Parelli and the Parelli Instructor Board review each Instructor at regular intervals. The Instructor Star Rating is used to convey the Instructor's current abilities, experience, and individual strengths.

The Parelli Instructors quality pledge:

1. Partnership is our first priority!

We want to help you sustainably forge a better relationship with your horse. We place value not on perfectly executed tasks, but on trust, communication, and motivation.



2. Foundation before specialisation!

Our focus is on supporting you on your path to mastery of all four Parelli Savvys and thus help you to be successful long-term, be able to read your horse better, understand his personality, and continue to improve your own skills.

3. Continuing development

We lead by example and by offering support and inspiration on your path to further development. The Parelli Programme is designed so that you can measure and experience your success in a clear-cut way.

The Parelli Star Rating

1-Star Instructor

• Has completed Level 4
• Teaches the Savvys On Line and FreeStyle up to and including Level 4
• Private lessons / group lessons / workshops / seminars (without horses)
• Maximum 4 participants per lesson (8 for seminars without horses)
• Maximum 6 lessons at a time (1-day workshops)

2-Star Instructor

• Has completed Level 4
• Teaches the Savvys On Line, Liberty, and FreeStyle up to and including Level 4
• Private lessons / group lessons / workshops / courses/ seminars (without horses)
• Maximum 6 participants per lesson (10 for seminars without horses)
• Maximum 6 lessons at a time / maximum 2-day courses

3-Star Instructor

• Has completed Level 4
• Instruction in all 4 Savvys:
• On Line, Liberty, FreeStyle and Finesse to Level 4
• Private lessons / group lessons / workshops / courses/ seminars (without horses)
• Maximum 10 participants per lesson/course (20 for seminars without horses)
• Maximum 4-day courses
• Is also qualified to conduct clinics
• Is qualified to instruct long-term and working students

4-Star Senior Instructor

• Has completed Level 4+
• Instruction in all 4 Savvys:
• On Line, Liberty, FreeStyle and Finesse to Level 4
• Private lessons / group lessons / workshops / courses/ camps / seminars
• Maximum 16 participants per lesson/course/camp (32 for seminars without horses)
• Maximum 6-day courses (camp)
• Is qualified to conduct clinics
• Is qualified to instruct long-term and working students
• Is qualified to teach Horsemanship to other instructors

5-Star Master Instructor

• Has completed Level 4+
• Instruction in all 4 Savvys:
• On Line, Liberty, FreeStyle, and Finesse to Level 4+
• Private lessons / group lessons / workshops / courses/ camps / seminars
• Maximum 20 participants per lesson / course / camp (no maximum for seminars without horses)
• Maximum 6-day courses (camp)
• Is qualified to conduct clinics
• Is qualified to instruct long-term and working students
• Is qualified to teach Horsemanship and instruction techniques to other instructors

6-Star Master Instructor

• Has completed Level 4+
• Instruction in all 4 Savvys:
• On Line, Liberty, FreeStyle and Finesse to Level 4
• Private lessons / group lessons / workshops / courses/ camps / seminars
• No maximum number of participants/instruction days
• Is qualified to conduct clinics
• Is qualified to instruct long-term and working students
• Is qualified to teach Horsemanship and instruction techniques to other instructors
